What an online shop or ordering portal includes

Today, orders often arrive by phone, as a text message or as an email without item numbers, and someone types them up in the evening. A shop or ordering portal takes the order where the customer places it, with the right items and their prices. Your team sees the orders neatly organised and can pick and deliver straight away.

  • Catalogue, shop and customer accounts

We build the catalogue with your items, units and variants and set up customer accounts that store delivery addresses and previous orders. You provide item data, images and the rules on who may order what.

  • Prices for business customers

If resellers, restaurants or major customers have their own terms, we set up price lists per customer group and, where needed, volume tiers and minimum quantities. You set the terms; we map them.

  • Orders into your back office

Orders are passed on to your back office according to agreed rules, for example as an order in bexio or as a picking list for production. Which systems are connected depends on the interfaces available.

Example scenario (fictional)

Online shops and ordering portals in practice

A cheese dairy supplies restaurants, farm shops and resellers who have so far placed their orders by phone every Monday. In the ordering portal, each customer sees their range at their prices, sets up a standard order and only adjusts the quantities. At the dairy, the orders appear as a picking list per delivery day, and the details for the invoice are ready.

How you can tell it fits

  • A good fit if regular customers keep ordering the same things and this currently happens by phone or email.
  • A good fit if different customer groups have different prices.
  • A good fit if orders are currently transferred into your back office by hand.

What is included and what is not

We set up payment providers, shipping and VAT rates to your specifications; you sign the contracts with payment and shipping providers yourself. Your business maintains item data, images and prices, and we show you how.

Starting point

We prepare a separate quote for this.

A single existing workflow can also be a sensible starting point. You describe it, and we tell you what we can solve properly to begin with.

Quote for your project

after the first conversation

The first conversation costs nothing. Before we start, the quote sets out:

  • the scope
  • your input
  • the sign-off
  • the price

Licences, hosting and additional services are listed separately.

You can try it out in the demo “Backstube Chriesibaum (fictional)”, with sample data and both sides of the workflow. The demos are in German.

Two questions before you start

Do we need a shop for consumers, or is a portal for business customers enough?

That depends on who orders from you. A closed portal for existing business customers is an obvious place to start if that is where most of your orders come from. A public shop can be added later.

What happens to orders when an item runs out?

You decide whether an item is shown as unavailable, whether customers can pre-order it or whether your team gets back to them. We agree these rules together before launch.

The first conversation costs nothing.
