How monitoring keeps an eye on your website and workflows

The contact form has not delivered an enquiry for days, and nobody knows whether nobody is enquiring or whether it is broken. An interface quietly stops transferring orders until a customer asks. Monitoring checks the website and important workflows regularly and alerts the person responsible when something is not running as expected.

  • Check availability and functions

At agreed intervals, we check whether the website can be reached, whether forms work and whether certificates and important pages are in order. You decide with us which functions are critical for your business.

  • Report errors and outages

If an expected step does not happen, such as the transfer of an order or the daily backup, an alert goes out according to agreed rules, by email or through the channel you prefer. You decide what counts as an error and how long to wait.

  • Status, responsibilities, responses

A status overview shows what is running and what was flagged most recently; for every alert, it is clear who responds and what needs to be done. Whether we respond or your team does is set out in the care agreement.

Example scenario (fictional)

Website and workflow monitoring in practice

An online retailer of bike accessories transfers orders from its shop to order processing automatically. When the transfer stops after a shop update, monitoring reports in the morning that no order has arrived since the last check, even though the shop shows sales. The office manager sees the alert before the first customer call and triggers the transfer by hand until the cause is fixed.

How you can tell it fits

  • A good fit if you only find out from customers that something is not working.
  • A good fit if orders, enquiries or data run automatically between systems.
  • A good fit if a website outage is more than a cosmetic flaw for you.

What is included and what is not

Monitoring detects and reports; fixing the problem is part of ongoing care or down to your team, depending on what is agreed. You set the check intervals, thresholds and notification channels, and costs of external monitoring services are listed separately.

Two questions before you start

Is our host’s status page not enough?

It shows whether the server is running, but not whether your form forwards enquiries or your orders arrive in your bookkeeping. These are exactly the workflows monitoring checks.

What happens at night or at weekends?

The checks keep running; who receives an alert and how quickly someone responds is set out in the care agreement. Without an agreement, your team receives the alert and decides for itself.

The first conversation costs nothing.
